Cooper Tire Teams Up with TLC’s Overhaulin’
FINDLAY, OHIO, April 20, 2006 – COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE:CTB) was part of a 1968 Ford Bronco remodel by automotive design legend Chip Foose on the “Photo Shoot Fiasco” episode of TLC’s car makeover show, Overhaulin’, this month.
“Using Cooper tires in this storyline gives us another opportunity for people to learn about our quality products,” said Dave Craig, director of North American advertising. “The show provides an excellent platform to demonstrate our broad range of products in many different applications.”
Watched by more than 500,000 people each week, Overhaulin’ is TLC’s mischievous car makeover show that tricks owners – while their cars are tricked out. The two co-hosts dupe the car’s owner to gain possession of the car and ensure complete surprise when the better-than-new ride is finally revealed.
In the episode “Photo Shoot Fiasco,” a 1968 Ford Bronco is for a married couple who both lost their fathers within three weeks of each other. Chrissy’s father left the Bronco to her husband, Miles, in his will. Miles views this unreliable vehicle as a symbol and tribute to both fathers and wants to restore the Bronco to its original beauty. Miles, a musician who put his career on the back-burner once his two girls were born, is a full-time Mr. Mom taking care of the family, while Chrissy goes to the office everyday as an advertising sales representative for Glamour magazine.
