Cooper Tire Pac-10 Sponsorship Enhances Regional Brand Awareness
Los Angeles-area dealers donate $3,000 to Children’s Miracle Network, host basketball clinic for patients of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
FINDLAY, OHIO, March 28, 2005 – COOPER TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY (NYSE: CTB) Cooper Tire, the official tire of six collegiate conferences, leveraged its sponsorship of the Pac-10 Tournament to raise brand awareness in the Los Angeles region.
Big Brand Tire and Daniels Tire, two Cooper Tire dealers located in southern California, have benefited from the Pac-10 sponsorship. The dealers teamed up in a half-time media shootout, which earned a $3,000 check for the Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.
"As the official tire of the Pac-10 conference, a supporter of student athletes around the country, and a fundraising partner of the Children’s Miracle Network, these dealers’ donation is a symbol of Cooper Tire’s commitment to supporting today’s youth," said Jeff Anderson, Los Angeles-area territory manager for Cooper Tire, who presented the charity donation on court after the media shootout.
The two dealers also partnered up to sponsor an interactive basketball skills clinic for dozens of kids from the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Children’s Miracle Network. Children’s Hospital patients and their families got the chance to hoop it up with former NBA all-star and UCLA great, Marques Johnson and Olympics gold medal winner and Pac-10 Hall of Honor Inductee, Darrall Imhoff. After the clinic, Cooper Tire, Big Brand Tire and Daniels Tire hosted each participating family at the Pacific Life Pac-10 Men’s Semi-Final Basketball Tournament.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company and its dealers have contributed extensively to Children’s Miracle Network during the past several years.
Additional activities at this year’s tournament included the annual presentation of the Cooper Tire Pac-10 Leadership Award, which was presented to one female and one male student-athlete who have excelled in their chosen sports, academics and campus leadership. This year’s winners were University of Oregon student Nikki Neuberger and University of Arizona student Jason Ranne.
